DRUNKEN NIGHTS is a series of performance events in pubs. Each night features a range of live artists, who have taken inspiration from the traditions of the Great British pub. Featuring unexpected theatre, off-beat stand-up comedy, experimental dance – and maybe even a good old fashioned sing-song. DRUNKEN NIGHTS is all about exciting contemporary performance in pubs – we throw out the rule books of theatres and galleries, and guarantee you a night of surprising, unexpected and extraordinary performance on tap. All of the acts take place in the main bar area so you can enjoy the evening from the comfort of your own bar stool with your tipple of choice.
This year’s supported artists…
We have selected three artists to receive development support, working towards a triple-bill in March 2015…
Rob Gregson (mentored by Andy Smith)
Jasmine Lee (mentored by Louise Mari)
Theatre State (mentored by Jon Haynes)
Presented by Drunken Chorus, selected artists have taken inspiration from the traditions of the great british pub; from standup comedy and karaoke, to pub quizzes, live music and dance floor shenanigans.
This year’s events are compéred by Non Applicables
After an initial two events, the 3 artists / companies above were chosen to receive development support, with residencies at Rich Mix in Bethnal Green and Live at LICA in Lancaster. They also receive a small budget, production support from Drunken Chorus and mentoring sessions with established artists, Louise Mari (a founding member of Shunt), Jon Haynes (founder and joint director of Ridiculusmus) and Andy Smith (a solo performer and regular collaborator with Tim Crouch – most recently on Adler & Gibb at the Royal Court). Their work will be shown as a triple-bill at The George Tavern and the Wagon & Horses in March (dates above).
